A cow is a female MOTHER cow and it can be a generic term for all cattle. A heifer is a young female. A bull is a male, used for breeding. Usually farmers & ranchers will put up the fences to prevent cow running amok in the countryside.
Cows mainly eat grass augmented, hay (a form of dried grass), silage (another form of preserved grass or fodder maize) again with a ration of cereal.
